What people ask us most
Do you take my insurance?
Some of our clinicians are in network with some employer plans, and others are out of network. Plans differ on group therapy: some cover it and some do not. At intake we check your benefits and tell you what applies. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid.
Can I get reimbursed with a superbill?
A superbill can go to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It is an itemized monthly receipt with the dates and kind of session, and it carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides what it pays.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of your care before you start. For a group, it covers the whole series. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
How much does it cost, and how do fees work?
The fee depends on the program and its length. We give it to you in writing before you start, and a limited number of reduced-fee spots are held in each group. The page on how fees work has the details.
Can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards for sessions and groups.
What happens in the first session?
It is a 50-minute intake with one clinician. They explain how they work, what stays private and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and you say what you want. Together you choose a first step.
How often do sessions happen, and how long are they?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly. Groups meet once a week for 90 minutes, and the start dates are on the home page. Your clinician sets the pace with you, and we do not promise a number of sessions.
Do I have to speak in a group?
No. You take part as much as you like, and you can pass at any point.
Can I do a group and individual therapy at the same time?
Yes. You can do both, with the same clinician or a different one.
Are you licensed where I live?
Our licenses are from North Carolina. Groups meet in person in Greensboro, and by video we see people who are in North Carolina during the session. Each license is listed at the foot of every page.
What do I do in a crisis?
Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock.
What is confidential, and what are the limits?
What you say in a session stays there. The law sets limits: serious risk of harm to yourself or another person, or suspected abuse of a child or an older adult, may require us to tell others. In a group, members agree to keep what is said in the room, but we cannot promise that for other members. We explain this in writing before you start.
Do you see teenagers?
No. Vessel sees adults, 18 and over. If you are looking for care for a teenager, we are glad to suggest colleagues.
What is your cancellation policy?
For individual sessions, we ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment. For a group, tell us when you will miss an evening; your seat is held, and we send what you missed.
